Dear all,
On 23th June ,2013 we visited Andha Mahila Ashramam , Near Kurukunta, Anantapur.
We really inspired by the works of Lakshmi Narayana garu (also a Visually Challenged) working as a Teacher & his wife (who is handicapped) for their services to Visually Challenged (Blind) people. This home was started on 2/10/2006 with 5 blind children in his own building with help of his sons. Now this home consists nearly 30 blind people. All are studying from 10th to degree.
This home can accommodate any visually challenged between 15 to 30 years from anywhere in AP until they get job. Recently they done marriage for one blind women in the home. He is going to retired after 5 years. So they requested us to support him further so that they can provide accommodation for more girls.
Children's open up their skills and entertained us with few Songs. They sang very well. Some of our new volunteers cried when they seen these children. They really felt that we have to extend our support to this home. We said some moral stories and name identification and jokes to them.
Special thanks to Haritha Devi who donated 20kgs Rice packet and Nalini for donating old clothes to those children.
We meet few other visitors and explained about our activities. They showed their interest to join with us. We distributed Mangoes, Biscuits and Bananas .
One girl showed me how they identified/find the letters on the paper. It was really amazing when we seen that.
In our previous home visit they requested us for any old /new tape record for listening classes. Please let me know if anyone is interested in donating old /new tape record to this children.
Thanks to all the volunteers who joined with us for making this event easier and joyful .
