Emergency need @ Kapaladoddi Village, Krishna dist- Groceries Distribution to 200 affected Families

From: Mohan Vajjha <mohanvajjha555@gmail.com> Thu, Nov 21, 13@12:27 PM

Dear all,
Total 5170 Kgs of Rice distributed to 352 flood effected weaver weaver families (Kalamkari,Asu and Cheneta) at Kappaladoddi on 10th November, 2013. Total expenditure went up to 1,45,000 for rice bags purchasing.
Out of which we, Amma Social Welfare Association, has spent 27,000/- approximately to support 90 Kalamkari familiesand rest was supported by other two NGOo's STN & Sahasra. We (AMMA) distributed  900 kg good quality rice of Rs.26/- Per Kg (Plus Tax)

  • For kalankari family 10kgs Rice to each family
  • For Handloom Workers 20kgs Rice to each family by other Groups
In that village different types of Sarnies and Clothes are made by the Hand loom workers and designed by the "KALANKARI' workers. I also observed that 90% people really poor and illiterate in this village.  They requested for the help for their children studies. In the inquiry some of them pleased me to help their children for their study through any association.

In the entire total 90 family houses, whom distributed rice, i found televisions in only 2 houses, this shows their poverty, and 90% houses are rented and also are sheds.

In that village Lokanatham Garu (one of the citizen of Kappaladoddi village)  helped us to conduct the activity. He is the only person who requested us to help their villagers. There is no association which is ready to distribute to KALANKARI families except AMMA.(These words from villagers, and especially from KALANKARI Families)

The following are the donations we received immediately after sending a mail request. We extremely thankful for their immediate response. We spend remaining amount from our regular donations.

Sri.B. Anitha- 5000/-

Sri.Kumara Swamy-2000/-
Sri.Kanakadurga-1000/-Sri.T.Guna Shekar-500/-

As our funds are limited we are able to reach few families only. Kindly extend your donation, Your little contribution will make big difference in the lived of poor and needy.

The event will be more organized, if one other volunteer is available from AMMA. As i am one man from ASWA it became  difficult to handle all the tasks.

Like every year, Kapaladoddi one in 7 weaving villages at pedana,Krishna dist is now heavily affected with current cyclones.
Especially weavers in the village are severely suffering as their work stations are being filled with rain water. The current situation is their daily weaving work is affected hence their livelihood is affected, so they need ration for their households to survive. It is estimated that 300 weaver families immediately need rice and groceries support. They have been meeting govt officials and collector, so far nothing concrete steps is taken. Once after rainy season, they will be having additional expenses. As weaving machines and related are made of wood, they have to get repaired ones water drains out.

Dear friends,
I stand before you once again with a plea to join hands for helping the families of the hand loom weavers effected by the recent typhoon which hit the coastal belt badly. We helped this village in 2011 along with other BOSF Groups under "Flood Relief Project". Again they faced the same problem, On a distress call from Sri Loknath garu, BOSF Group members visited the place for getting a firsthand knowledge of the loss. It was very disheartening to see the plight of the people there. Loss of property, hunger, and lack of drinking water… it was in a very bad shape. The first step taken on part of AMMA -ASWA is to supporting these groups to organize rice, dal and some other essential items for the affected people. Also efforts have been made to synergize the energies being put in by other NGOs.

As a result of these efforts, we have tied up with above NGO's from Hyderabad and have decided to go and hand over required groceries to the needy people there. In all about 200 families are yet to get any kind of assistance from the Govt. or any other NGO. We have therefore decided to visit the village on10th November'2013 and provide the following items to 200 of the effected families:

Interested can join our Volunteer Mr.Vajja.Mohan @ 9491335683, who is visiting this village on behalf of AMMA Social Welfare Association along with other 2 NGOs.

Hi all,
On 24th June, 12 Sunday, Me & Surendra Visited AAA ASARA ORPHANAGE HOME at Moti Nagar, Hyderabad. We have received a call from the Founder of this home Mr. Mahendra, requesting us to Visit and help the inmates in any means.  Based on their urgency we visited the home without a mail to the Group.

7 years back he started this home with view to help many Road Side Destitute children. From there onwards he is running the home with his own Salary (worked as Asst. Lecturer in Narayana Jr. College) and support very few friends. So didn't go out to collect funds. As he is using his own funds he didn't follow accounting formalities like Receipts for Donations etc.,

Recently he got married and he is unable to spend all his own funds for this cause. So he is in search of Funds. He don't have a Rented Premises which supports his thought. To reduce his expenses further he shifted to a Double Bed Room Flat in Moti Nagar Recently. Total inmates are around 10-13. All of them are Orphans and most of them are from Streets.

His rent is around 9500/- but the Problem is it's just like Residential Home and Owner wont allowed others to visit the place. They only permits one or two people into Home. He has been doing this from 7 years so he is not interested to Join these in other homes and close this home. They got Rice as donation from Nagarjuna Foundation for couple of months and some stationery is sponsored by other donors in the past.

If any Group (more than 2 members) is interested to visit the Home & do any activities for children, then he will take out children to nearest walkers park and we can conduct the activities.

Distribution of Note Books & Sponsoring 2 Children:  We Sponsored 2 Students (Gopi Chand & Uday) School Fee and Distributed Note Books to all the children in this home on 1st July, 12. And we also planned to visit home Twice in month to teach few things to Children.

Sudeepti Views-

As everyone know we visited AASARA home 1st July 2012, me and Prabha went to see home. You can see the attached pics of home. They are really in need of sponsors and in need of helping hands. Children started cultivating a habit of jogging where they got jog shoes and socks sponsored by some donors. Food bags, racks, blankets also sponsored by some others. Children are very active and disciplined. Hope they grow as good citizens if we support them. Let's join hands to help them...
