2nd Blood Donation&Thalassemia Awareness Camp@SKD Engineering College, Ananthapur on 24th August, 2011

Hi all,
First of all I congratulate everyone for making this Blood donation Camp a grand success in Sri Krishna Devaraya (SKD) Engineering College, Gooty on 24-08-11.With all your support I achieved this and got much success. It is a Gods gift given to me to organize a Blood Donation camp from Amma Social Welfare Association. 105 members came forward and donated blood for Thalassemia children’s.

It is first time for me in doing, planning & organizing this activity; but I didn't feel any difficulty in only because of Motivation & Inspiration of Sreenivas Anna (AMMA Founder). He has given his total guidance to me at every stage.  So many times I troubled him but he didn't hesitate at any time in giving guidance. I thank him for his patience.

From AMMA & its volunteers I learned so many things like dedication, commitment, organizing & leading, daring, motivating, supporting…which I tried and succeeded in implementing in this Project. From this activity I achieved good response from students in the way of donating blood for Thalassemia children’s.

With the support of Mr. Lakshmi Narayana Sir (N.S.S organizer) and N.S.S volunteers, I arranged this camp. Their selfless efforts towards this camp was really inspired me a lot.

We started this camp at 10:30AM with an awareness session by Mr. Shiva kumar Garu, Camp-In charge of Thalassemia Society. Then after we started collecting Blood form donors. Initially we also planned to conduct Awareness Session in another college i.e. Moulali College of Engineering & Technology, Gotkuru, which is 68 km from this (SKD) college, due to lack of time, we unable to conduct that session.

SKD college staff, students, volunteers and Principal have given their full co-operation, which is the main reason for making this Blood Donation Camp a grand success.

I have inspired from Mr. Raghunath sir, who (at the age of 46 years) showed his responsibility by donating blood.

Thalassemia Sickle Cell Society provided Frooti, Glucose biscuits to the donors and Bananas were provided by AMMA SOCIAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION.

We just collected blood from only BOYS and didn’t collect from Muslim Students (Due to Fasting) and Girls, even though they are very interested.  They disappointed a bit for not collecting blood from themselves. So I promised them that, I will take them to Thalassemia Society for Blood Donation when they come to Hyderabad for Project work or Jobs.

By planning and organizing this activity I got much satisfaction, confidence, Many Personal Skills and Many more feelings which can’t be expressed, rather have to feel from the deepest heart. I surprised by seeing responses of my college Management & Student, Myself as a Member of Social Organization.  Good deeds always make you feel good.  I never forget this activity in my life time.

Finally I request all the volunteers, followers of this blog, group along with other Groups in BOSF and Prasanthi Madam to create much awareness about Thalassemia and Blood Donation.

I tried in many colleges and they replied that, they will donate only to RED CROSS, which is authorized by and approved by State Government.

My Special thanks to Dr. Suman Jain, Durga Madam and Siva Garu & Team of Thalassemia Sick Cell Society

Once again thanks to every one who supported in making this Donation Camp a very grand success. There are no special words to appreciate the following 105 Donors and 23 Volunteers who are the main reason for making this drive a Very Grand Success.

Fwd: About Adoptions in AP

Hi Birds,

Greetings!!

I have a very good news to share with you all. Today I met Ms. Padmavathi who is the Child Welfare Committee member of Rangareddy Dt. She also acts as a Trustee of KGNM (Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial) Trust, Hydershakote, Bandlaguda, Hyd.

I shared about PGCAI with her. She mentioned that now Adoption Policies have become friendly and authority has been given to District Officials as well to give children for adoption.

As per her, this is the process:

1. The interested parents should submit an application at Sisu Vihar.
Now 2011 applications are being considered in AP. Till then all requests are addressed)
2. The officials will conduct home study.
3. Once this is completed, they invite the parents to the Home and show them the children who match their features.
4. Once the parents select a child, they will send the child with the parents for a 3-day stay.
5. If everything is ok and the child gets along well with the parents and parents are happy with the child, then the final process of signing the documents would start.
6. The clause that the parents should inform the children that they are not biological but adopted is only for a caution but not mandatory and she mentioned that in Indian scenario, it is not possible as most of the parents might not agree for this clause.

Coming to single parents (unmarried youth) adopting children, as per rule, they will consider giving children of age above 10 years for Foster Care.

For any questions related to adoption and specially in AP, you can contact her at this ID: kgnmtrusthyd@gmail.com. She checks once in a day so we can expect a reply within 48 to 72 hours or in a worst case scenario, in a week to 10 days time.

She also mentioned that once we apply in Sishu Vihar and can give a copy to her, she will try to speed up the process.

--
Thank you.

with regards,
PRASANTHI.
